Horse-drawn Carriage Rides
(Sa. & Su.11am-2pm & 3pm-6pm) from W. Bank Street & Market Street.  Enjoy a ride through the historic High Street neighborhood where—from the comfort and enjoyment of a carriage—you will pass by impressive examples of  American residential architecture from the 18th – 21st centuries.  $5 per rider.

Historic Walking Tours of Old Towne
(Sa. & Su. 11am; 1pm; 3pm) Guided tours from the Visitors Center on Cockade Alley.
  • Walking tours are FREE and will begin at the Petersburg Visitors Center and end at Centre Hill Mansion where light refreshments will be served.  Centre Hill will be open if you’d like to tour the house. (Free to Petersburg residents/ small fee to non-residents.)  Walking tours are limited to 15 people and will last approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes.

Additionally, two other Petersburg Museum sites in the event area are open during Nostalgiafest:  The Farmers Bank (located on Bollingbrook Street)—one of the oldest bank buildings in America—and the Siege Museum (located on Bank Street)—an Exchange Building built in 1839 and now housing Petersburg’s primary museum and gift shop.  This site tells the story of the lives of the people of Petersburg before, during and immediately after the Civil War.

Period Re-enactors—both 18th & 19th century—will be strolling the streets and will gladly engage in conversation (Sa. & Su. Throughout the day.)
  • Petersburg National Battlefield representatives will be located at the Southside Depot on River Street providing demonstrations and displays.
  • The 12th Va, Co B is pleased to be a part of the Civil War history presented during Nostalgiafest.  They will be encamped in the area of the Southside Depot on River Street.  Enjoy living history as “ladies, gentlemen and soldiers of the 1860s” visit throughout the festival area.  They look forward to engaging your curiosity as they bring history to life.  So, please, stop and enjoy the conversation as they experience the sights and sounds of Nostalgiafest.  And, if you need a little bit more action, the infantry is always ready to recruit a new member for a little drill practice! (The 12th Va, Co B participates in battle reenactments, living histories, preservation events and educational functions.  It feeds their passion and sustains their enjoyment in sharing time with those who like to step back into the 1860s.  For more information about the “12th Virginia”, visit their web site at www.12thvirginia.org.)
